We attended the following shows but for some reason or another didn't
take photos or didn't write up a proper review. In some cases, it was
because the show wasn't very good. In other cases it was because the
show didn't really stand out. So we'll provide a very, very short
description to these shows. Belleville Illinois July 2005-attended two performances. The production in Belleville was uhm. Sparse. There was a cute girl playing Eddie who we saw as we got to the theater quite early and I thought she looked promising, but then the show started. Well that isn't fair really. They had a video introduction to the show and it was quite good. Then the show started. And went down hill from there. I remember one of the Phantoms was pretty good, and that is really all that I remember other than we ate at Chili's and I had the peppercorn burger.Tulsa Oklahoma October 2005-attended one performance. I am not sure why I didn't like the Tulsa show very much. I recall a
few things that seemed positive. I liked the posters they used for
Science Fiction. I like the way they used a scrim and really bright
lights to create a rainy night in the car. I don't remember much
else. I do remember that the theater was really just too big for Rocky
and we had really good seats. The actors were too far away and there
wasn't really any interaction. I have recently looked at that
particular theatre group's Myspace and it appears that they have done
the show several times now and if I am to judge the show by the look of
their Myspace it looks pretty amazing. I think I'd like to give this
one another try if it plays again. JCCC was a pretty good show. It falls into the same category as many college produced shows, the space is just too big to do it justice. The set was decent. The cast was quite good. Riff Raff stood out as well as the Narrator. Otherwise just a straightforward production. Kirksville Missouri October 2008-attended one performance.
I really didn't think I would ever like a show less than Belleville. I
was wrong. The show in Kirksville has taken its spot in that list. Ok
so there wasn't really a set. Costumes and set pieces left much to be
desired. Nothing at all stands out about this show. We ate at Dairy
Queen on the way, my ice cream was good. St. Louis Missouri July 2009-attended one performance. The St. Louis Show was ok. I don't have any complaints about
it. I also don't have any huge praises. The set seemed a bit off.
The cast was very nice, we talked to a few of them afterward. We ate
at the Spaghetti Factory before the show, and it was very good. Emporia State University October 2010-attended the Halloween performance. The show in Emporia was a bit strange. The audience seemed a bit reserved. It was almost like they had never seen any version of Rocky before and they were afraid to laugh, because well, they might go to hell. The show was prettyish to look at. I wasn't crazy about their Frank. Otherwise it wasn't too bad, but again too big of a theater for the show. |
